You have a $10,000 to Spend?

You have a $10,000 to Spend?

What kind of camera/filmmaking gear would you purchase if someone gave you $10,000.

film gear

Last night I had an exciting dream where someone gave me a $10,000 to spend in a filmmaking shop and then I woke up thinking……what if that happened in real life?

If you only had a couple minutes to throw together your dream camera gear package  what would you get with $10,000?

You can get as much camera/film gear as you like as long as it all totals to $10,000 or less.

Let’s use the prices at Amazon’s Camera Shop as a guide (they have a ton of gear) but don’t get caught up in all the details – really I’m asking what gear you’re currently craving!!

Share your dream package with all of us in the comments below.

i would invest it in to a project, look in to the things i would need to achieve it, what kind of equipment i would need to pull off the shots i wont to implement. i would start up a basic lighting kit with some defusing umbrellas and set up a green screen area, i would only get what i need and save the rest for later on for other equipment i need down the line.

The Blackmagic Cinema Camera from Blackmagic Design brings to film makers a tool that many have waited for. Recording to a 2.5K image sensor, the camera is capable of recording 12-bit RAW DNG files, as well as ProRes and DNxHD formats to built-in removable SSD drives (not included), while delivering 13 stops of dynamic range. And it does so at a previously unheard of price point.

I would definitely buy lenses! atm I’m having a T2i with the 18-55mm kit lens, which is really not that good! And I’m starting to get more serious, so I really wonna have some new ones!

    Canon 50mm f/1.4 – $360
    Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM – $2280
    Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM – $1400

Another thing is a Glidecam! I’ve tried to make some myself, but they are nothing compared to working with the real deal!

    Glidecam HD-4000 + Manfrotto 577 Quick release – $640

Filming on sunny days is really nice, but sometimes it is hard to see what is really going on, on that screen.

    Seagull LCD 1x-3x Viewfinder II – $100

I would also love to have some timelapse motion control gear!
elektraDRIVE BUNDLE PACKAGE with ORACLE Controller – $1315

Right now I can’t think of what to use the rest money on, but a new camera body might also be a good thing, though the T2i really does a good job compared to the price! And with Magic Lantern it’s even better!

    -Canon 5D Mark II or III ~ $2000 – 3000
-Portable greenscreen + reversable blue screen – $40
    -Decent tripod – $50
    -Generator – $100
    -Lights – $400 for a couple?
    -Reflectors, diffusors – $30
    -Glidecam – $300

The rest would go towards lenses!

If I told my Alienware m11x (currently my only computer, it’s too small to edit on and is pretty slow when it comes to after effects and 3D rendering), my canon rebel t3i + lens, I could have about $1500 extra and I would buy a couple of nice monitors and a drawing tablet for rotoscoping or something

I can’t WAIT until I’m a lifeguard next year and start making some money so I can actually buy some of this stuff! I always feel bad asking my parents

    -Glidecam 4000 ($329)

The rest would go towards food for my cast & crew during filming. We try to make the best work possible with the best we have. We usually film with close friends & family and it’s always for fun. 🙂 We always meet new people with each film we do and we try to bring people closer with our films. If we were given $10,000 to upgrade our gear, we would use the gear above to enhance our ideas in hopes that it could get people to relate and come closer. 🙂

    After Effects CS5 – $300
    Windows 7 64 bit – $130-$170
    GoPro chest harness – $40

That is it because we are going on a trip around the whole USA in our RV, so we can’t take to much. ;0)

I feel like everyone is secretly hoping that you really give out $10,000, which would be super cool if you actually did ;).

So If I had $10,000 i would buy
    Sony NEX-VG20H ––––– $2,200
    Tripod ––––––––––––––– $200
    Microphone ––––––––––– $300
    Final Cut X ––––––––––– $300

But all the film equipment in the world wont make you a good film maker, so I would use the $7,000 to fund adventures with my friends to interesting places where we would have fun making movies, and gain valuable knowledge and experience.
